Abstract

The magnetic properties of a cubic textured NiFe sample are measured under a unidirectional and rotational field. The device used is described and the technical problems usually met in this type of loss measurements are pointed out. The magnetic characteristics obtained under unidirectional and rotational excitations are compared for the same value of B at 50 Hz. During the approach to saturation, rotational losses decrease and reach the losses calculated from classical eddy currents theory.
