Abstract

A weak ferromagnetic signal at T N = 17.5 K has been observed in the FC branch of dc magnetic susceptibility of the basic copper chloride Cu 3Cl 4(OH) 2·2H 2O. Magnetization measurements at 10 K showed a hysteresis loop. The saturation moment was 0.012 μ B Cu . The ferromagnetic behavior was produced by only a small fraction of the Cu moments.
