Abstract
We report the transport and the magnetic properties of a new layered oxychalcogenide HgOCu0.95Fe0.05Se. The magnetic phase transition occurs at around 60 K under H = 100 Oe, as in HgOCuSe. The resistivity at zero field decreases as a function of T1.6 from room temperature down to around 50 K. The saturation magnetization for the isothermal magnetic hysteresis curves progressively decrease with increasing temperature. The degree of the inversion between the descending and the ascending branches of the hysteresis curves of HgOCu0.95Fe0.05Se, compared to HgOCuSe, is decreased by doping the magnetic Fe element. Such an inverted irreversibility can be explained by metamagnetism.
