Abstract
The TbRu 2− x Pd x Si 2 series of solid solutions (0< x<2) was studied by powder X-ray and neutron diffraction, and by magnetometric methods. The investigated solid solutions crystallise in the body-centred tetragonal ThCr 2Si 2-type crystal structure (space group I4/mmm). The magnetic moments are localised only at the Tb sites. Substituting Pd for Ru changes the distances between the magnetic moments and, with increasing content of Pd, increases the number of conduction electrons leading to changes in the observed magnetic structures.
