Abstract
Powder neutron diffraction measurements have been performed on TbAg 2Si 2 at low temperatures. The compound crystallize in the tetragonal ThCr 2Si 2-type crystal structure (space group I4/mmm). Below T N=18 K TbAg 2Si 2 orders antiferromagnetically with a sine-wave modulated structure characterized by the propagation vector k =(1,0.3249(5),0) . The Tb magnetic moments, equal 8.36(22) μ B, are in the basal plane as expected from the positive sign of the B 2 0 parameter of the crystal electric field Hamiltonian.
