Abstract
In this paper we show that neutrons can be used to detect ferromagnetism down to the monolayer range. Experimentally the reflected intensities 1 ±for incident spins parallel (+) and antiparallel (−) to the thin film magnetization are measured near the angle for total reflection. For magnetic films 1+#1−. With this method we have determined the magnetic, moments of thin films of the metastable fcc phase of Co epitaxially grown on Cu(100).
