Abstract

Magnetic moments of quarks and leptons built out of three spin-1/2 preons are calculated in the nonrelativistic approximation. It is shown that the Harariet al. model predicts the proton-neutron magnetic-moment ratio to be the same as in the staticSU(6) quark model for baryons,i.e. μp/μn=-3/2. The Terezawaet al. model gives the proton-neutron magnetic-moment ratio in terms of masses and charges of the preons. The masses and charges of the preons can be chosen to give μp/μn=-3/2.
