Abstract

Using the chiral bag model and taking into account pion and gluon corrections we calculate the magnetic moment of the six-quark bag with quantum numbers of the deuteron. For the radius of the six-quark bag R 6 q = 1.18–1.38 fm which corresponds to the bag radius of the nucleon R 3 q = 0.8–1.0 fm, we find μ 6 q D = 1.17–1.23 n.m. Then from the data on the deuteron magnetic moment, we obtain the limit on a six-quark bag admixture in the deuteron: P b < 3%. Our result for PB is smaller by a factor 3–5 than the probability to find nucléons in the deuteron at a distance r < 1.4 fm, and apparently indicates that properties of an effective bag in the deuteron are quite different from those of the MIT six-quark bag. We discuss also the influence of the 6q-bag admixture on the deuteron quadrupole moment.
