Abstract

Several physical properties in the normal and superconducting La 3 Al(Ce) systems have shown the interesting anomalies associated with the Kondo effect. La 3 Al(Ce) system shows a resistance minimum characterizing the Kondo effect. The depressions of the superconducting transition temperature T c and specific heat jump Δ C due to addition of Ce impurities show the marked deviation from the Abrikosov-Gor'kov theory. The magnetic impurity dependence of depressions of T c and Δ C is explained well except for the low temperature region by the Muller-Hartmann and Zittartz theory for T K / T c0 =1/4, where T K is the Kondo temperature and T c0 is T c for La 3 Al. Experimental behaviors of the upper critical field and electronic specific heat will also be discussed.
