Abstract
Flux Switching motor (FSM), a new class of electric motor that can be classified into three groups of permanent magnet (PM) FSM, field excitation (FE) FSM and hybrid excitation (HE) FSM which combined PM and FE as their main flux sources have been designed for various applications, recently [1-4]. In addition, the rotor structure of FSMs can be categorized into salient rotor and/or segmental rotor. Although FSMs using salient rotor structure has proved its high torque and power consumption as well as efficiency, the rotor weight itself contributes to fairly reduction of torque and power density. In recent works, some researchers have developed FSMs using segmental rotor construction similar with switch reluctance motors (SRMs) segmental rotor [5], which gives significant gains over other topologies.
