Abstract

Particle physics studies require larger machines involving the use of higher magnetic fields. The dimensions of the magnetic parts of the accelerators, the intensity, homogeneity of the required fields and the particular geometry of some components impose the wide use of superconductivity. The main superconducting components of the accelerators are the R.F. cavities, beam magnets and detectors. In the present paper the superconducting components used in particle physics accelerators are revised and the involved today available materials are considered.
