Abstract

Polystyrene composites filled with various fractions of Fe were prepared by a casting method. The magnetic susceptibility, chi , was measured in the temperature range 290-470 K. The magnetic dilution model revealed a variance with the obtained results. This was attributed to long-range magnetic interactions between the moment of the filler and the spin moment of the proposed magnetic solitons, formed in the interfacial regions. The obtained results agreed with a previously suggested theoretical model which considers non-uniform doping with a concentration gradient across the main chain diameter of the polymer.
