Abstract

By 3D neutron depolarization (ND) the magnetization and the domain structure were observed for FC and ZFC samples of (Pd 0.9965Fe 0.0035) 1− x Mn x with x=0.05, showing both an FM and a spin-glass-like transition, and x=0 being ferromagnetic. The evolution of the domain structure along the magnetization/demagnetization process — as seen by depolarization — is strongly asymmetric, with maximum change in the domain structure only after magnetization reversal (typical domain size δ≈3 μm in the virgin state). Near T c, the alloy approached the behavior of FM PdFe, showing a symmetric change of domain structure on the applied field.
