Abstract

Reaction of terBuNC with anti-B 18H 22 in CH 2ClCH 2Cl gives [7-{( terBuNHCH){ terBuNHC(CN)}CH 2}- anti-B 18H 20] in which a reductive oligomerisation of the terBuNC residues has given the complex polynitrogen base {( terBuNHCH){ terBuNHC(CN)}CH 2:}, formally as a zwitterionic carbene attached to the macropolyhedral {B 18H 20} cluster.
