Abstract

AbstractMachine learning (ML) as part of artificial intelligence will be a key technology of the future in many areas of our life, so also in laser materials processing. This data‐driven approach will use digital twins – digital equivalents of real parts covering the whole process chain. Optical process monitoring systems observe process steps in real time yielding in a digital process twin as part of the twin. ML will enable us to extract information from data, assisting experts in answering questions from “Ship the part?” to “How I can produce a part with a lot size of one at a given quality level?”
