Research Article| January 01 2017 “Mabel K. Howell: A Modern Apostle,” 1873-1957 Barbara E. Campbell Barbara E. Campbell BARBARA E. CAMPBELL, a retired deaconess, is a graduate of Scarritt College, and a resident of Brooks-Howell Home. She is a former staff member of the Women’s Division (now United Methodist Women). She is the author of two books—United Methodist Women In The Middle of Tomorrow and To Educate is to Teach to Live—and numerous articles. Her avocation is research and writings about the woman’s missionary societies in the United Methodist tradition.
