Abstract
Alpha galactose allergy is an IgE antibody response to a mammalian oligosaccharide epitope, galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose. Anaphylaxis is typically delayed after ingestion of mammalian food products. Alpha-gal IgE decreases over time in patients with this syndrome. We present a patient whose allergy to alpha-gal waned over time, only to resurface a year later, presumably due to “resensitization” from a tick bite.
