Abstract
We estimate the magnitude of the F-spin breaking matrix elements of nuclei in the rare-earth region within the IBM-2 SU(3) limit. The matrix elements are deduced from experimentally known transition strengths of F-spin forbidden Ml transitions and the scissors mode. As result very small F-spin impurities are found.
