Abstract

A powerful combination of a photon scattering experiment and a γγ-coincidence study following the β-decay of the Jπ=(2)+ low-spin isomere of 94Tc was used to investigate low spin excitations in 94Mo. We paid special attention to proton-neutron mixed-symmetry (MS) states: The 1+ scissors mode and the 2+ MS state are identified from M1 transition strengths. A γ transition between MS states was observed for the first time. The M1 and E2 transition strength are in reasonable agreement with calculations in the O(6) limit of the proton-neutron version of the Interacting Boson Model (IBM-2).
