Abstract

Broken heart syndrome, also called Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a transient and reversible dysfunction of the left ventricle (LV), precipitated by acute emotional or physical stress. Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is an immunodeficency for which IgG replacement therapy is often given intravenous (IVIG). Anaphylaxis to IVIG is reported in less than 0.07% of patients. We present a case of an immune deficient patient receiving IVIG who had anaphylaxis and developed Takotsubo syndrome (TTS).
