Abstract
Pulmonary function studies, including ventilation and perfusion scintiphotos were obtained in 6 asymptomatic ex-heroin users. All of them had some identifiable abnormality of pulmonary function, and 3 manifested regional ventilation or perfusion abnormalities. The possible causes for these findings are uncertain but must include primary toxicity of the heroin mixture to pulmonary tissue.
