Abstract

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are garnering substantial interest due to their unique structural diversity, tunable pore size, luminescent properties and remarkable multifunction support for biosensing applications including immunoglobulin-M generated against the COVID-19. Recent developments have focused on RT nucleic probes, curative immobilization (enzyme, antibodies or nanoparticles), electrochemical and optical biosensors, along with noninvasive monitoring. In the following feature article, we present an overview of the key advances on MOFs biosensors from few of its branches. We also looked into the rich coordination chemistry between metal nodes and organic linkers which enables a diverse synthetic platform for the pragmatic design of MOF materials with anticipated geometries and properties.
