Abstract

Bi-doped SrO-B2O3 glasses were prepared by melting method. Visible and infrared luminescence spectra and fluorescence decay curve were measured. The results of measurements show that multivalent bismuth can be stabilized effectively in SrO-B2O3 glasses (33SrO-67B2O3, 25SrO-75B2O3 and 20SrO-80B2O3). These materials show multicolor luminescence from blue, white and red to NIR (near-infrared) region and they can be potentially applied as wide-spectrum light source.
