Abstract

Unusual luminescence behavior related to persistent spectral hole-burning phenomena is observed in semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). The effects are luminescence elongation with an increase of the light exposure, observed in CuI QDs embedded in glass and hole burning in the luminescence spectrum of CuCl QDs embedded in NaCl crystals. The observed phenomena are explained by the exciton localization and the succeeding ionization of QDs.
