Abstract

Luis Andrés Murillo Best Article of 2015:William Childers Bruce R. Burningham The Cervantes Society of America is delighted to announce that William Childers's Spring 2015 article, "Quixote Gumbo," has been named the winner of the 2015 Luis Andrés Murillo Best Article of the Year award. Childers's article examines the role of Don Quixote in "mediating" between European and US societies in what was once called a "melting-pot" literary aesthetic, but which is now better described as a mosaic, quilt, tapestry, or "gumbo." The anonymous jury for the 2015 selection consisted of three members of the journal's Editorial Board. These esteemed colleagues evaluated all the articles published in Cervantes during 2015 (not counting book reviews and notes) and chose Childers's essay as the year's winning article. The Cervantes Society announced this award at its 2017 annual business meeting, which occurred in connection with the March 2017 annual meeting of the Renaissance Society of America in Chicago.
