Abstract
Marie Josephte Corriveau, know as “La Corriveau”, was according the ethnologist Luc Lacourciere, the women that charges the worst reputation of Canadian history and, even though she died more than two centuries , she continues, like a ghost, feeding the imagination of her people. Corriveau was sentenced to death for the murder of her second husband, although legend has it that she had killed seven. From the analysis of these representations of women, this study intends to demonstrate how these fictional beings had influenced on the reputation of women and the establishment of a female identity.
