Abstract
Advancements in microelectronic technology have led to the development of metal-oxide semiconductor large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) components. Sandia Laboratories, Albuquerque (SLA) is now incorporating these advanced components in designs for products to be manufactured at Bendix Kansas City. A project was undertaken to develop a Bendix component engineering support capability for LSIs, and to assure that procurability considerations are included in the LSI design effort. The following three related topics are covered: (1) a general overview of the LSI design process as performed at SLA; (2) a review of the SA2475 LSI manufacturing effort at the Semiconductor Development Laboratory of SLA; and (3) considerations for establishing a commercial company as a vendor for LSI components.
