Abstract
Noise and concentration: More than just an acoustic problem – implications for work design Even for relatively simple concentration tasks, the extra-aural effects of noise below 80 dB(A) can impair performance. Specific effects are illustrated using the practical example of visual inspection. This requires a considerable degree of recurring concentration, but is difficult to classify on the basis of current regulations. Recommendations are therefore derived for practical application.
