Abstract
ABSTRACT It is shown that non-linear elements within a closed-loop discrete-continuous or time-quantized system yield low-frequency distortion components which may significantly impair low-frequency following. Under certain circumstances and for particular system configurations it is possible to isolate the linear phenomenon of frequency aliasing and the non-linear phenomenon of spectral cross-modulation in a non-linear system and analyse the effect of each using a quali-linear procedure. The paper describes this procedure and gives as example a torque saturating position control system; good agreement between theoretical and experimental results is achieved.
