Abstract
The structure and problems of origin of Lower Devonian breccia-conglomerates of the Sakmara–Voznesensk zone, southern Urals are considered. It was revealed that the breccia-conglomerates are composed of carbonatized serpentinite clasts and formed in a marine basin at the foothill of a relatively steep slope of a rather intensely dissected land. Clastic material of the breccia-conglomerates was mainly derived from carbonate weathering crusts of serpentinized ultramafic rocks.
