Abstract

Superelastic electron scattering involving the collisionalde-excitation oflaser-excited 138Ba (...6s6p 1P1) atomsto the (...6s2 1S0) ground state has been used to measureelectron impactcoherence parameters for the related (...6s2 1S0)-(...6s6p 1P1) inelastic process. Measurements of thenaturalparameters: γ and Plin+ were made forexcitation at impact energies of 5, 7.5, 9, 10 and 15 eV. Experimentaldata are compared with available theoretical results.
