Abstract

Abstract Deep inelastic scattering (DIS) in the small x region is discussed in connection with recent HERA results. A review of reggeon approach to this field is given. Regge-poles are considered from both t-channel and s-channel points of view. A part of the lecture is devoted to the Regge-poles in QCD. The technique of reggeon diagrams for calculations of Regge-cuts is reviewed and their importance for high-energy phenomenology is emphasized. Models for structure functions are considered and compared to experimental data. Important role of an investigation of final states in DIS for determination of underlying mechanism of this process is pointed out. Diffractive production of particles in DIS is discussed in details. It is shown that the data on large rapidity gap events give a possibility to determine the partonic structure of the Pomeron. Recent work in this direction shows that both quarks and qluons have hard distributions in the Pomeron. Shadowing effects in DIS for both nucleons and nuclei are di...
