Abstract

ABSTRACTCopper manganese mixed oxide with polyaniline based composite is electrodeposited by chronoamperometric method on Vulcan XC72 carbon paper used as a backing layer in proton exchange membrane fuel cell. The electro deposited catalyst characterized by XRD and SEM shows the formation of Cu1.5Mn1.5O4 with polyaniline coating during the process of polymerization under constant potential in acidic medium. Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity of the catalyst evaluated by linear sweep voltammetry, rotating ring disk electrode voltammetry and scanning electrochemical microscopy measurements established ∼2 e transfer process and significant catalytic surface roughness with promising activity towards ORR.
