Abstract

In this paper, a facile synthesis of 1D-rodlike Yttrium manganite (YMnO3) was reported. YMnO3 nanorods were successfully prepared via a hydrothermal process. The prepared sample was subjected to structural, morphological and magnetic property studies. The XRD pattern confirmed that the prepared sample is phase pure with hexagonal structure. HRSEM, HRTEM and AFM images revealed that the sample contains uniform nanorods with average diameter of 100nm and length in several micrometers. MFM image shows a magnetic distribution in the rods. The zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetization curve shows an anti-ferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition TN (Neel temperature) at ~80K in the temperature range from 20 to 300K which was further confirmed by magnetic hysteresis loops.
