Abstract

Transport parameters in ${\mathrm{PrBa}}_{2}$${\mathrm{Cu}}_{4}$${\mathrm{O}}_{8}$ have been measured and analyzed. The charge transport arising from the Cu-O double chain is consistently explained in terms of the one- to two-dimensional (1D-2D) crossover around 100 K, where the system becomes 1D (2D) at high (low) temperatures. This is characterized by the rapid increase in the Hall coefficient and the magnetoresistance below 100 K, and also by the small thermopower below 100 K. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
