Describes a low-noise light sensor which uses a quadrant version of the photosil detector and specially designed electronics to separate the photon events from background. Measurements are presented of pulse height distribution, dark count and signal-to-noise ratio as a function of EHT. Possible applications include astronomy and scintillation counting.
