Abstract
Abstract In PVDF-films piezoelectric, mechanical and dielectric properties can be varied in the film-plane and in the thickness direction, depending on the method of preparation. Film properties can be optimized intentionally for specific applications. Two of them are described; the bimorph vibrator and the ultrasonic transducer which use the in-plane and thickness properties, respectively. Performance in these applications is enhanced by incorporating non-piezoelectric backing materials.
