Abstract
This essay attempts to develop new ways to approach Canada in an North American comparative framework by surveying three existing modes of potential Canadian intervention and inclusion. They are, in descending degree of influence in the field of American studies: transnational, hemispheric, and most recently, Asian North American. Below I provide a broad overview and analysis of their recent configurations, considering in particular the structural arrangements that constrain the visibility of Canada.
