Abstract

In this study, the loss mechanism of substrate integrated suspended line (SISL) is investigated and the experimental verification is given. The strategy to reduce the total circuit losses, including the radiation loss, the conductor loss, and the dielectric loss based on SISL platform, is investigated. For the three cases in the form of uniform transmission lines, their characteristic impedance, phase constant, and attenuation constant are simulated and compared. The influences caused by the height of the air cavity, the distance between the centre trace to the side wall, dielectric loss tangent, and metal conductivity are also investigated. Finally, the experimental verifications using uniform transmission lines are given.
