Abstract

On April 18, 2021, the travel agency TurismoCity’s Twitter account tweeted: «It starts with a V and everyone likes it». Private companies, international public actors such as the Embassy of Japan in Paraguay and independent users participated in the game. However, the official account of the government of the City of Buenos Aires’s intervention generated controversy among users, venturing in response: “Return to the classrooms tomorrow.” In a context of political tension after the decisions taken by the national Government to face the epidemiological crisis as a result of the covid-19 disease, this exchange leads us to wonder about the relationship between political practices and production and circulation of speeches within the framework of contemporary hypermediatized society. The analysis of this case opens the possibility of identifying new trends in the policy mediatization process that stem from the circulation of discourses about covid-19, even more so in the current context of health crisis where offline circulation is restricted and the expansion of the online public space is amplified.
