Abstract
Los trabajos arqueológicos desarrollados en la Cerdanya (Pirineo Oriental) en los últimos 15 años han permitido por primera vez definir la entidad del pueblo de los Cerretani, comunidad brevemente mencionada por los autores greco-romanos. Características como su origen, su filiación cultural, y sus peculiares pautas territoriales y económicas, han sido identificadas a partir del estudio de algunos de sus principales yacimientos. Se trata de una etnia con un claro componente montañés y ganadero, pero que llegó a desarrollar un interesante sistema de oppida y un sorprendente corpus epigráfico rupestre.

La ubicación de los Ceretanos en la actual Cerdanya se basa en la continuidad del topónimo, bien documentada desde la Antigüedad hasta la Edad Media, incluso durante la breve ocupación islámica (Artica 2015)
En áreas vecinas los estudios paleo-ambientales muestran una evolución diferenciada: así, en zonas como la Vall del Madriu (Andorra) hay datos de deforestación vinculada a ganadería (Palet et alii 2010), mientras que en Coma de Burg (Pallars) y Estany Llebreta (Vall de Boí) no hay indicios de grandes actividades de tala y deforestación

Summary
The archaeological works developed in the Cerdanya region (Eastern Pyrenees) in the last 15 years have made possible the identification of the Cerretani, a community briefly mentioned by Greco-Roman authors. Characteristics such as its origin, its cultural affiliation, and its peculiar territorial and economic patterns, have been identified for the first time from the study of some of its main sites. It is an ethnic group with a clear mountain and livestock component, who developed an interesting oppida system and an amazing rock epigraphic corpus
