Abstract

In this paper, a loop flow based method is proposed. Based on this novel method, a polynomial algorithm for optimal capacitor sizing is presented. This method deals with both economic objective and secure objective in one objective function and modelled variables are all flows, so it is very suitable for analysis for distribution system. Furthermore, an efficient algorithm is designed to search an optimal solution. Since only little iteration is needed to get final solution in the calculation, this method is very efficient and can be used in real-time environment for a large distribution system operation. This method can be used to the analysis for three-phase distribution system.
