Abstract
In this paper, we consider the modified Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation (KP-type) limit for ion dynamics system in R 2 + 1 . We derive the two-dimensional homogeneous and inhomogeneous KP-type equation from the non-dimensional ion dynamics system by Gardner–Morikawa transforms. The different Gardner–Morikawa transforms in temporal–spatial directions bring the anisotropic problem for energy estimate. By the energy method, we prove that the solution of Euler–Poisson system converges to KP-type equation globally when ϵ → 0 in R 2 + 1 .
