Abstract

The adiabatic induction of currents is studied in metals with flat Fermi surfaces. A relation between the London penetration depth λ and the Fermi velocity vF is derived and evaluated for YBaCuO. The phenomenological Ansatz 2△=hvF/λ leads to a quantitative fit of the Tc(λ) relationship found by muon spin resonance for the high temperature superconductors with weak elastic defect scattering.
