Abstract
Purpose: irregularly disposed Medicines brings pollution to the environment and health risks. The legislation for this type of waste is irresolute, it does not determine the destination of this waste or those responsible for it. The literature on drug disposal shows that reverse logistics practices are used in different parts of the pharmaceutical chain that reduces waste. However, these practices incur operational work and also cost in an increasingly competitive environment. Thus, the present study aims to discover which practices are used in hospitals in the region of Vale do Paraiba Fluminense, to confront the practices of the literature and finally to verify what are the improvements in the improvement of the existing reverse logistics system in hospitals surveyed. Procedures and Methods: In addition to reviewing the literature on the subject, those responsible for the drug disposal process will be interviewed in order to get to know in depth the current process as well as its difficulties. Finally, the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) will be used so that the participants can identify which practices identified in the literature could improve the existing process. Expected Results: It is expected to understand the existing drug reverse chain by identifying its difficulties and processes in order to contribute to the local management of these products. In addition, this study serves as a basis for new research related to the topic and may also be compared with similar research. In addition, suggestions for further research will be added to the literature. Practical Implications: The exposure of pharmaceutical residues to the environment, and also to the consumer, can be reduced through Reverse Logistics practices applied to any part of the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain. Management processes are necessary for the optimization of Supply Chains, the same occurs in green management where Reverse Logistics is a fundamental tool. Originality and contributions: The study it is an empirical investigation procedures which have been combined to ensure the originality of it. A trial of Reverse Logistics practices for drugs targeting the hospital sector was carried out through the AHP. It is hoped to serve as a basis for future research as well as for application in similar organizations. It has adherence with the line of technical scientific performance of operations management and technological logistical support. Technical / Technological Production: Production is characterized by the development of a method aimed at improving a process that is susceptible to protecting the environment by means of business and intellectual property and it is still possible to publicize its production. It can be considered with easy applicability if considered for similar research objects. It has a medium innovative content, being able to modify existing ones and / or insert new processes. The complexity of the research in relation to the organizations studied is average considering that they, despite the same segment, have different managements, but have no relationship between them. Regarding the number of respondents, they are few and also have no relation between them, in addition to the fact that the necessary knowledge is only operational.
