Abstract

Calcium plays a predominant role regulating many functional processes of spermatogenesis and fertilization. Despite the importance of calcium to the events, very little information is available on calcium homeostasis and functional relationships between calcium and Ca2+-ATPase during spermatogenic cells differentiation, sperm capacitation and acrosome reaction. The purpose of the present study is to further define calcium localization and its possible role during spermatogenesis and sperm capacitation.
