Abstract

ABSTRACTWe performed local structure analyses of relaxor ferroelectric of lead magnesium niobate (PMN) by combining an extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and atomic pair-distribution function (PDF) methods. EXAFS study revealed that Pb atoms of PMN are disordered largely compared with those of PbTiO3, though the local environment of the Nb atoms is not significantly different from that for NaNbO3 and AgNbO3. The PDF analysis also revealed the short-range order structure of Pb, which is deviated from the perovskite framework.
