Abstract

Enumerations and Numbers: from "the Roman de la Rose" to the "Tesoretto" Medieval literature's pleasure in lists has to do with the dialectics of variety and unity, of concors discordia, which also commands the interplay of numbers with each other: their symbolic meanings and their relationships also both testify for and put in place such a dialectics.
