Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the primary school senior students’ levels of using democratic values included in primary school curricula in their social life. The participants of the study were 700 primary school senior students from seven cities in different districts. The data of the study were collected through Democratic values Scale included four factors. The Cronbach Alfa coefficiency of the scale was .87. To analyze the data collected, independed t test and one way analysis of variance test were used. The findings manifested that the gender of the participants made a significant difference in in participants’ scores on showing being gentle. The female participants were found more democratic than the male participants. The findings also indicated that being in different cities made a significant difference in participants’ scores. In showing value of being respectful the participants from Ordu; in showing value of being gentle the participants from Mugla; in showing value of being tolerant the participants from Diyarbakir and in showing value of making cooperation the participants from Ordu were found more democratic than the participants in other cities. Finally, the number of person in the family did not make a significant difference in participants’ scores on showing democratic values. The suggestions made in accordance with the study findings and limitations.
