Abstract

The paper gives an overview of the development, the objectives and the scope of Living probabilistic safety assessment. Its methods, tools and important features of application are described. The Safety Analysis and Information System is used as an example. The main part of this System, viz., the top-down fault and event tree modelling and the bottom-up engineering system analysis, are described. Some details of the special data sheet method, which is used for data collection and processing, are presented. A special approach for common cause failure analysis is explained. The practicability of the System as an aid for utilities and plant staff has been demonstrated at nuclear plants of different types
